Our group has long promoted the benefits of having off-leash areas. Off-leash walking is great exercise and is a community building activity that facilitates socializing of humans and dogs and in fact, creates a better-socialized dog. It is well known that people who walk dogs enjoy better physical and mental health. These concepts are supported by various experts such as health officials, dog behaviourists and the City of Calgary’s Chief Bylaw Officer.
We hope you’ll support the park and our group through keeping the park clean and ensuring you dog(s) is well-behaved. We also hold bi-monthly park clean-ups and fundraise to supply poop bags in the park.
Please remember to pick up after your dog. This means poop, broken toys and human garbage such as beverage containers, snack wrappers and cigarette butts.
We are entirely thankful for the current support we have from dog people. Our group continually seeks more help every day. It contributes to sustaining our off-leash access and helps to maintain our good reputation with competing interest groups and The City of Calgary.
Join the pack and support off-leash access in River Park. That simply means keep it clean and make sure your dog is well behaved. There are no membership fees and no hidden agendas. We’re just a bunch of people who are passionate about off-leash as a form of recreation and exercise, and we enjoy dogs and each other’s company.
